COASTAL CAROLINA FINISHES 2ND IN NATION
⚾️ 🐓 🌽

The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers have nothing to frown upon. Finishing 2nd in the nation out of 340+ teams with a first year Head Coach is something amazing. Throughout the tournament, the team batted 0.268 with a 2.70 ERA going 8-2 throughout the entire national tournament.

Controversy started the game in the 1st inning as HC Kevin Schnall was ejected for arguing balls and strikes. Whether you believe him or not, Schnall stood on the mountain top stating he could not hear the ump, Angel Campos, who ultimately threw him out.

The acting job of the year however goes to one of the other umpires for his dive he took once Schnall got his money’s worth for the ejection.

The game itself, Sun Belt Pitcher of the Year, Jacob Morrison, did not perform at his normal high level. Whether it was just from mental focus after his HC was tossed or the pitching clock not fully operating or his headset not working and throw in good hitters by LSU. Morrison last 3.2 innings and struck out two.

Dean Mihos went 3-4 batting with a solo shot, while Wells Syeks went 1-3 with a 2-run home run and a walk.

The story of the series was leaving ducks on the pond for the Chanticleers. In Game 2, Coastal Carolina left 6 runners on the bases, while in Game 1 they left 9… 15 runners on the bases, 6 of which were in scoring position, at the championship level, is a formula on how to lose.

Regardless, Coastal Carolina finishes the year ranked 2nd in the nation. Congratulations Chanticleers on an excellent season.

HEADLINERS SHOWING AT SATURDAY’S STEPHEN FOSTER 🏇

The 4+YM horse division does not receive the same national attention as the 3 year olds do… simply because they do not race in races like the Kentucky Derby. • First Mission (Brad Cox, Luis Saez)

  • Mindframe (Todd Pletcher, Irad Ortiz)

  • Skippylongstocking (Saffie Joseph, Jose Ortiz)

  • Sierra Leone (Chad Brown, Flavien Pratt)

  • Mystik Dan (Kenneth McPeek, Brian Hernandez)
