CHANTS ADVANCE TO BRACKET-1 SEMIS AT #MCWS ⚾️ 🐓 🏆️

Omaha. The destination of college baseball. In 2016, Coastal Carolina put their name on the map defeating the Arizona Wildcats 2-1 to win the Men’s College World Series Championships. Friday, the two exact squads met in Game 1 of the Men’s College World Series.

Skip right to the heavy drama. Arizona closer Garrett Hicks was put in early to prevent any chance of a Coastal attack, entering the game during the 7th inning. He Closer (who dominated against North Carolina the previous series) struckout the Chants batters in six straight pitches to end the inning. Coastal’s defense stayed strong allowing no runs in the top of the 8th.

To the Bottom of the 8th, where after getting the first two batters out, Hicks faced Wells Sykes with an 0-2 pitch. Sykes then cracked a double down the right field line. Arizona chose to intentionally walk Coastal’s All-American, Cade Bodine. Thus bringing “Sea Bass” up to the plate. Sebastian Alexander, who was previously 0-3 on the day, singled up the middle allowing Sykes to round third and head for home, scoring the game leading run. Next batter, Blake Barthol (defensive hero vs Auburn) faced new reliever Tony Pluta, where Barthol smashed a 2-run double mounting the lead to 7-5.

In the 9th, Dominick Carbone came in and closed out the game, advance Coastal Carolina to the Semi-Finals of Bracket-1.

In the night cap, Oregon State tried their hardest to allow Louisville to comeback and win it in the 9th, stopping the rally at a tie, 3-3. In their bottom half of the 9th, the Beavers scored the game winning run.

Coastal Carolina now faces the Oregon State Beavers Sunday at 7pm ET for a spot in the Final 4.
